It has begun. Canada is in recession and the U.S. will likely follow shortly.
2015 to date, U.S. employers handed out 242,830 pink slips (redundancy notices), a 13 percent increase from the same period last year. One of the recent announcements came from Microsoft with a plan to reduce its workforce by 7,800 people.
75,000 of the job cuts are said to be in the oil and related industries but retail, finance and tech are also cutting headcount (Target, Gap, HP, etc.).

By now, California’s Human Resource Managers are familiar with AB 1522 – the Healthy Workplaces, Healthy Families Act of 2014 (“AB 1522” or “the new law"), which was signed September 10, 2014. AB 1522’s sponsors claim that the law alleviates the problem of California’s low-wage workers who lack paid sick leave, which the sponsors cite as a public health hazard. The impact of the law is pervasive.
