Are you a Strategic HR Manager?: Stop looking at things from an HR perspective

With some companies slicing up HR and assigning it’s functions to other departments, is your HR Department a Strategic Partner or Overblown Cost Centre?
It is an increasing global trend to outsource HR functions to external providers or to shift responsibility to front line managers, in an effort to become more lean, streamlined and efficient.

Workforce Segmentation: Analyzing and understanding your workforce

Just as a marketer segments or stratifies their clients, products and services according to their value, the same principles should apply to segmenting the workforce. Workforce Analytics: Three HR metrics pitfalls to evade

I had the pleasure of spending considerable time at Business Objects’ Paris headquarters, located near an island known as La Grande Jatte, which was made famous in the painting A Sunday on La Grande Jatte by Georges Seurat. Proof of What CEOs Want to Hear from “HR”: …and why “HR” struggles with getting there

I’ve had the privilege of working with a number of chapters of the Society for HR Management (SHRM) to present a two hour session on “Selling the Value of HR to Executive Management”. At a recent one, it was “Boss’s Day” at the chapter, and members were encouraged to bring their boss to the session. Of the 45 attendees, 7 of them were CEOs.
