The Middle East, Africa and South East (SE) Asia are embarking on rapid economic growth with the promise of becoming major contributors to the global economy. With an abundance of natural resources and a growing population base, they have all the elements required.
The past decade has been the one with massive ups and downs. We’ve had a bursting of the financial bubble in 2008, volatile political situations, and increased awareness of social issues. Most importantly, these issues are no longer centered around the western world.
The last 25 years have seen changes in the world of work. How we work has changed. The mobile phone has probably been responsible for making us all hyper-connected and that in turn has made talent boundary-less. The world is now the marketplace for talent.
The Middle East and Asia Pacific regions have now, slowly and steadily, caught up with the latest technological trends and international best practices over the past few decades.
I was recently invited to an old friend’s 40th birthday celebrations. Was hoping to party, instead had a stimulating discussion with Maya, a 40 plus Alpha woman (competent, confident and ambitious who always spoke her mind) on being politically savvy in the corporate world.
One of the key factors and the most needed paradigm shift expected in the approach of the organizations is to become ‘family inclusive’. If an organization is seriously concerned about its bottom line then it better be focusing on efforts that will ensure happy family life for its employees.
In recent years, corporates have been conducting background checks on potential recruits. Before we launch into a discussion about the importance of these background checks, we will first explain what is meant by a background check.
