Today, technology has changed the business world ten-fold. Every day there is an easier way to process, access, and disseminate information. Global business environments involve a high level of uncertainty and organizations will increasingly need better technology to improve staff satisfaction and employee well-being. Global expansion of business is constantly changing as organizations are increasingly participating in international markets. The emergence of global business environments drives companies to become world-class.
Executives should concentrate on setting highly desired expectations and inspire employees to identify further opportunities in the business environment. Organizations compete globally but must think locally if they expect to exceed. These new and improved globalized markets place demands on the roles of technology within organizations operating in this modern environment.
In this article, I place a new emphasis on technology, because of its ease of implementation by managers at all levels of the organizations. The assumption addressed in this article is that the strategic role of technology for employee well-being and staff satisfaction may be underestimated and underutilized.
Technology, now referred to as, information technology, is an internal resource that increasingly facilitates organizational communication and improves the search for knowledge. Executives can implement and manage information technology to develop collaborations among subordinates and managers. Information technology can play a crucial role in achieving a high level of staff satisfaction and improve employee well-being through acquiring additional knowledge from employees and developing better relationships with them.
In fact, an executive can use information technology to consider both employee’s individual interests and company’s essential needs in order to conform to the needs and expectations of strategic goals and objectives. Therefore, when executives have people in place to manage and implement information technology, the organization can see better employee well-being, and most importantly enhance satisfaction and loyalty.
Information technology is an important organizational resource for integrating knowledge through engaging employees in data integration. Information technology uses impersonal mechanism to enact regulations, procedures, and rules to coordinate employees within organizations. In addition, information technology can be used by executives to bringing together employees at all levels of the organizations to the vertically and horizontally exchanging knowledge between them. Information technology, therefore, manifests itself as a synthesizer of ideas and knowledge acquired from multiple organizational members.
Thus, information technology can provide a shared understanding about the current issues and problems among employees, which satisfies employee needs and motivates employees to communicate best practices as a way of keeping the highest standard of operation in the industry and being the go-to organization for successful modeling of staff satisfaction and employee well-being.
Information technology can also inspire employees to engage in organizational decision-making processes aiming at providing new ideas and better solutions for organizational problems. Information technology develops organizational communications and creates more effective workplaces for employees to actively participate in organizational decisions. Information technology can, therefore, help CEOs develop an effective wellbeing plan, which provides important directions to conduct ongoing training within companies to effectively empower employees, evaluate the current status of environmental health and improve staff satisfaction.
Thus, information technology can be embraced by executives to improve employee well-being and staff satisfaction through coordinating intellectual capital within organizations.
In conclusion, success in today’s global business environment can be more effective when information technology is effectively implemented and widely used to achieve a higher degree of staff satisfaction and employee well-being. The question posited for top management executives in any and all organizations is to accept the challenge of information technology implementation to address the current gaps in organizational effectiveness and improve their competitiveness in global markets.
