Too much sensitive employee data is being shared by HR with third-parties (SSN, salary, job title, manager's name, DOB, etc)

In my work I see a lot of employee spreadsheets provided by HR to third-party companies that are providing benefits to their employees. Some of these benefits providers do not scrupulously safeguard sensitive employee data supplied to them. The data ends up on company LANs in folders that are widely accessible. You might be surprised to learn how many HR departments routinely send out SSN, date of birth, gender, salary, job title, manager's name, home phone, cellphone, and so on, to third parties that have no real need for that information. If you wonder why there's so much identity theft, well, HR is partially to blame for that. Get it together, HR! |

While this is a valid concern from my experience, all I can say is this is at times quite unavoidable; however, keeping our employee's data privacy in mind and tackling all the verifications and pre-requisites in place, we have enrolled ourselves to strictly adhere with the ISMS (Information Security Management System) in compliance with ISO 27001. At Remunance, we all strive to ensure practicing the best business measures to keep the data of all our employees and clients as safe as possible. |
