I am interested in know how others handle snow days for PT exempt employees. If the company closes due to a snowstorm, would you still pay the PT exempt employee who was scheduled to work or would they have to use vacation time to supplement that day? Also, if they leave early on a day when they are working would they still get paid the full day? I am uncertain as to how this works since they are not hourly and there is nothing specific in our policy. Thank you in advance.

I work with a corporation so we may handle things a little differently, but how I handle situations like these is, if there is a "snow storm" and the employees are called off, they do not receive pay for that day because they are not working. If an employee leaves early that day, they will only be paid for the hours worked. You only get paid for the hours you are clocked-in for. If the company calls off staff last minute and the employee shows up to work, we will be them 2 hours worth of pay for showing up. Hope this helps!
