If an illegal immigrant is hired in to a company by a manager that didn't follow procedure (and is no longer with the company for that reason) and the person worked for a week before payroll found out and terminated the person, is the company obligated to pay the illegal employee?

Also, if the person comes back saying they now have documentation of citizenship, but you find out that it is just the application in process paperwork and not the actual approval paperwork, are you still responsible for paying this person?

And last, if the person does come back with proper documentation but the effective date of their citizenship is after the last day they worked, does the company need to pay them?
