    Question:

Does a company's HR dept. need to legally disclose to the employee whom of which the HR dept. is performing an investigation on?

Also, does the company's HR dept. need to disclose the matter/topic/content of which the investigation is taking place on that employee (i.e., if an anonymous email defaming and slandering an employee's character was sent throughout the company)?

Is there a time frame in CA, from which an investigation can be launched after the presence of a matter is brought to the HR dept's. attention?

Any answers would be greatly appreciated.
