Best time to post resume on Monster or CareerBuilder

Hi there. I actually have a question as a job seeker, and was hoping some of you HR professionals might have some input.
For jobs listed on Monster or CareerBuilder, is there a certain timeframe when you receive a "deluge" of applications? For example, do you receive the most resumes 1-2 days after posting a job listing? Or perhaps your biggest onslaught of resumes is 1 week after the posting?
I was thinking if I wait a week or so to submit my resume, my application might not get lost in the piles of resumes. But then I am worried companies might already be moving along in the screening process and I might be too late?
Thanks so much for your input!!

When I do career counseling I explain that it is best to stay on the top of the heap. For instance depending on the type of search the recruiter is doing when sourcing resumes, your resume will either come up according to relevance to what they are looking for or the newest resume posted based on how they do their search.
To stay on top there are 2 things you can do. First make sure that your resume has keywords of what you have experience in on your resume. The more experience you have in one area would need to be on your resume repeatedly to come up on top as the most relevant. For instance my resume has the word "recruiter" 8 times. My resume would show up before someone else that has it 7 times on their resume if "recruiter" is a key word in the search.
The other search which will put your resume as the freshest requires you to go in and update your profile so that your's is the newest. I have seen many candidates do this on a daily basis so that they will be seen as one of the first resumes. The reason this is important is because most recruiters will not look at every resume in a search, only the first few that meet the requirements.
I hope this helps! Good luck in your job search.
Sandy
