    Hello Sandy,
The 360 feedback process is used by some organizations as part of the performance appraisal process and used by others only to support development planning. 360 surveys can be customized to focus on certain competencies or certain goal areas. They are not, however, used by all organizations and, when used, should be only a part of the performance evaluation process. The feedback gathered in this manner represents only a portion of the feedback and information that should be considered when a manager/supervisor is evaluating progress. You will find a transcript from one of my webcasts on 360 feedback entitled "How to effectively use 360 or multirater feedback within your performance management process" on the HR.com website. This transcript (or archive) should address many of your questions. If you have remaining questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at amacmillan@hr.com
    Sincerely,
    Aileen MacMillan
