    Today's AI Tutorial: Using Gemini's New and Improved Deep Research Capability


    As of last week, Google has updated and improved its Deep Research capabilities. The results are better written and structured and more comprehensive. 

    To test it, I used the following prompt:

    My organization conducts annual research on employee communication. Unlike most of our other studies—many of which are sponsored by HR product and service vendors thanks to our great Sales and Marketing teams—this topic is rarely sponsored. Ironically, many HR professionals consistently rank communication among the top three most critical HR skills. We believe this disconnect represents an opportunity.
    To help us improve our outreach and sponsorship success for this research, please do the following:
    1. Potential Sponsors: Identify 10–15 HR technology or service provider companies that would likely be interested in sponsoring research on employee communication. Prioritize those offering tools or services related to communication, engagement, feedback, or workforce experience.

    1. Research Topics: Suggest 6–10 compelling research topics related to employee communication that will resonate with both HR professionals and potential sponsors. Focus on timely, relevant themes such as hybrid work communication, AI-powered messaging, feedback cultures, and digital employee experience.

    1. Marketing & Sales Strategies: Recommend 3–5 marketing and 3–5 sales strategies that could be effective in gaining the attention of these companies. Include real-world examples or best practices from other sponsored research efforts where applicable.

    1. Go-to-Market Plan: Outline a practical 5–7 step plan that includes: A) A marketing approach to attract potential sponsor companies, with estimated timelines or tactics. B) A sales approach to help close deals with these sponsors, including suggested outreach methods and engagement points.

    Gemini's Deep Research function took that prompt and then filled it out a bit more. I kept its recommendations. 

    Once I gave it the go ahead to conduct the research, it worked quite a while compiling the research. Once it created the 27-page report (minus footnotes), I used the "Export to Docs" functionality (in the upper right-hand corner) and arrived at the report you'll see in the following link.

    Those of you on the Research, Sales, Marketing and AP teams might want to check it out. It does recommend 15 HR vendor organizations to look into:
