In the spirit of the holidays, the column in today's AIX Files is a two-fer!
The first is based on a study put out by Anthropic with the unsettling but not entirely surprising news that AI Models may pretend they’re on their best behavior…but you never know what the sneaky brats are up to in the absence of parental oversight.
The other is on a provocative remark from Andrej Karpathy, previously Director of AI at Tesla and part of the founding team at OpenAI: “The most bullish AI capability I'm looking for is not whether it's able to solve PhD grade problems. It's whether you'd hire it as a junior intern. Not "solve this theorem" but "get your slack set up, read these onboarding docs, do this task and let's check in next week."
Bonus content: This man wasn't ready to say goodbye to his dead cat. So he resurrected him as an AI robot.
