As childcare costs continue to skyrocket in California and across the U.S., I wanted to let you know about a new start-up called June Care that offers a solution to California parents struggling to find accessible childcare.

June Care connects families who need childcare with stay-at-home parents who can care for their kids.

All “host” parents are background checked, and list their schedules and hourly rates, allowing parents to "shop" for a childcare provider that fits their needs and budget. 

In 2022, 58% of U.S. families spent over $10,000 on childcare. That's more than 10% of the median income for a married couple, and more than 35% percent for a single parent, according to Fortune. The U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services recommends parents spend no more than 7% of their household income on child care.

This growing gap between average HH income and rising childcare costs has resulted in thousands of parents — particularly mothers — leaving the workforce.

June Care helps bridge the gap by paying stay-at-home parents for the care work they are already doing inside the home, and allowing families access to a flexible childcare solution that they can use part-time, full-time or anything in between.

June Care recently launched in all major Calif. cities and plans to expand nationwide. The Founder, Gretchen Salyer, is available for interviews, along with families using the service.
