Career Development is Key to Employee Retention
    Sheryl Boswell
According to our recent research study, “Why Employees Leave Their Jobs 2022,” the majority of HR professionals say it has become harder to attract and retain talent over the past year. Among the many findings in the research, retention leaders (organizations affected “not at all” or “to a small degree” by an increase in employee resignations) are more likely than retention laggards (organizations affected to a “high degree” or “very high degree” by resignations) to have responded to the need to retain employees by increasing training and development.

We see this tactic having success in 3 key areas:
    • offering more training and development opportunities
    • doing more to aid career development
    • giving managers better training

Employees want to know that the organization is working to help them develop and advance their careers. Creating a strategy for career development is one of the first steps in making employees feel valued.
