Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development Supports tilr Training Technology To Help Unlock The Economic Potential Of The Province’s Workforce Development Initiatives To Facilitate COVID-19 Economic Recovery
“We’re proud to support companies like tilr, who use innovative technology to help companies find the skilled workers they need and grow the economy for everyone” - Monte McNaughton, Ontario Minister of Labour, Training and Skills Development
tilr, a Toronto-headquartered talent intelligence platform offering skills-first organizations artificial intelligence (‘A.I.’)-driven software solutions to build more resilient workplaces, is pleased to announce that the company has been allocated a $1.3 million (CDN) grant by the Ontario Ministry of Training, Labour & Skills Development. tilr aims to equip 50 of the province’s leading employers in the manufacturing, hospitality & tourism, and technology sectors with its employee training and re-skilling technology, at no cost.
This grant takes place on the heels of the Ministry of Labour, Training, and Skills Development announcement of a $200M Skills Development Fund (SDF) seeking to relieve pandemic-induced labor and financial impacts on businesses and the province’s priority sectors, supporting the quickest paths to employment opportunities alongside efforts to create innovative training ideas and solutions, and ultimately, improving organizations’ capacities to respond to market shocks, now and in future.
tilr believes that skills determine employees’ ability to succeed at their jobs. However, the skills required for any given job are constantly evolving. The company focuses its technology on helping organizations across Canada confidently hire, train, upskill and reskill their employees based on the skills profiles they create, addressing the needs of an organization in real-time while supporting their employees career development.
Leah Carr, CEO of tilr, stated that “We are so excited to be one of the recipients of the SDF grant and for the opportunity to contribute to Minister McNaughton’s goal of addressing the challenges businesses are facing with hiring, training, and retaining workers. We believe that leveraging one’s skills along with acquiring new skills that one is passionate about will determine employees’ abilities to both succeed and feel accomplished in their jobs. We help organizations more efficiently invest in and get employees engaged in their career pathing, upskilling and reskilling programs with our automated and equitable platform. Our solution also provides HR departments and employers with analytics and dashboards to measure and manage skills, so that companies can build for greater resiliency.
“As more companies move towards a ’skills first’ strategy, organizations dedicated to supporting ongoing learning and development will be looking for tools like ours to support this shift. tilr’s solution provides high touch, personalized online training services, improving talent retention and engagement, and at the same time, the company’s bottom line.”
In 2022, employers across Ontario continue to report historic talent retention challenges, now marked by the Great Resignation. This labor issue is further compounded by glaring skills gaps in several sectors which has led to employers and HR departments spending excessive time and money finding workers with specific skills and experiences.
“Our government is on a mission to give workers the tools to find meaningful work close to home and earn bigger paycheques for their families,” said Monte McNaughton, Minister of Labour, Training and Skills Development. “We’re proud to support companies like tilr, who use innovative technology to help companies find the skilled workers they need and grow the economy for everyone.”
