    Improving Health When Time is Limited is a problem of priorities. When health is neglected because the obligations are so great to maintain employment or get promoted, health might then become a priority because it is negatively effecting performance.

    As a Health Coach and Personal Trainer we work with people’s motivation to improve. They first have the idea they would like to change, They evolve to the point they are ready for action and engage in a plan. They stick with the plan until something gets in the way. Most often, its time.

    Planning and Time Management for Health

    Health requires planning. We plan our meals, do the shopping and prepare the food. This is the best way to get healthy ingredients, control what the meals contain, and get the right portions. Exercise requires time that the non-dedicated see as taking away from something else.

    Those dedicated to health see it as a priority to improve their quality of life, improve their performance in all areas, and maintain vitality to old age. Health and fitness can prevent burn out. Part of health is relaxation and good sleep. The body needs to wind down to continue at optimum levels of energy.

    What Are the Important Uses of Time

    Seeing health as a time problem is short sighted. It is like not taking the time to put oil in your car. It may save time for a while, but everything breaks down from improper maintenance. Then the problem becomes the priority. It is nice to have a car that runs forever with good maintenance. It is nice to not have to visit the doctor every week and take a load of pills to keep your body functioning.

    See the importance. Evaluate where you are spending your time. Most efficiency experts find that at least 60% of our time is non-productive. We spend a lot of time with to do lists, surfing the web, playing with our phone, letting emails and meetings interrupt activities that would lead to productivity.

    Create Time Blocks for Best Results

    Creating time blocks for the most important activities results in purposeful days. At the end of the day, we can account for several hours used for productive activities that will advance our progress. Limiting all the time wasters to one block is a good way to optimize time management.

    Sanjay Gupta, the health adviser on CNN, says he will swim at lunch or place his exercise above the important of meetings. Do people respect this? Improving your health often needs the support of others. You many need the support of employers and mates, and kids. Who doesn’t want you to be healthy and vital into your old age.

    In the book Younger Next Year, Chris Crowley, now 88 years old, says we an be vital until we are 85. He prescribes an hour of aerobics 6 days a week. If you are going to focus on one aspect of health, focus on weight management. Weigh your self every morning. The scale tells the story. At normal weight, we are most likely avoiding illnesses and diseases mostly caused by improper diets. Check your weight on the Body Mass Index calculator.

    Great health becomes an addicting habit. Those who love healthy practices place health high on their list of priorities and enjoy the habits and the results. Most people that are healthy also fear not being healthy which is one of their prime motivators.
