Speaker: Deepak Sharma, American Express Global Business Travel, APAC L&D Head
Hi Everyone,
Any training or development implemented in an organizational effort must be cost-effective. The benefits gained must outweigh the costs of the learning experience. It is not enough to merely assume that any training an organization offers is effective: we must develop substantive data to determine whether the training offer is achieving its goals.
Takeaways from the above video
Learning and Development is required to
- Build alignment in organization culture (to align employees with mission, vision and value statement of organization).
- Make employees to perform at an optimum level
- Listen the voice of employees (To know their mindset and attitude)
Ensuring, L&D impact the bottom line of the businesses
- L & D function is support function (Budget sucking function).
- Mindset-> Makes them to comes out of their comfort zone.
- Structured way is needed to improve performance.
- Where exactly we are and where we want to reach in terms of KPIs.
E-Learning going to replace class room learning?
- Pros E-Learning is scalability, accessibility and repeatability is high.
- Cons we loss the battle at social impact, we needs socialization to evolve ourself.
- Hybrid model will be best to work with.
- Country challenges, 50% population don’t have net connectivity, 36% don’t have cell phones.
Improvement in ROI of L&D Program
Prerequisite
- Data Driven, KPIs based target improvements should be set.
- Nature of people, their goals.
- 6 sigma and DMAIC Process(Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve and Control) is helpful in manufacturing for this.
Preintervention Database
- Performance in terms of quarters where are they.
- needs to bring data into measurable figure
Project Charter
- Time line, communication and key milestones to be achieved.
Pilot the intervention then Run full scale intervention
- observe the results
Point to be remember
1. L&D is investment in people for better performance.
2. Evaluating the ROI, requires project to be conducted in controlled way.
3. To make any intervention sustainable people should be involve in decision making they should have feeling of participation(what is their stake in it)
Thought of the day: The soul always knows what to do to heal itself. The challenge is to silence the mind.
