Retired American AgCredit CEO Byron Enix has been named the FCCS Accelerator of the Year, an award that recognizes a leader who has make significant contributions to advancing their organization, accelerating change and fostering growth.
This is the inaugural year for the Accelerator of the Year award, which is open to contributors and leaders at every level. It is managed through the Accelerate Center, powered by FCCS, to reward a leader who accelerates an organization’s success.
“In turbulent times, it’s especially critical for leaders to step into opportunities to serve their customers and communities in ways that also accelerate their businesses, and the Accelerator of the Year award recognizes excellence in achieving this goal,” says Chad Moller, FCCS CEO. “Byron Enix is well deserving of being the first recipient of this award. His actions in 2020 demonstrate outstanding leadership and accelerated thinking, and American AgCredit’s financial success and organizational agility proves the results.”
Enix was nominated by his Board of Directors for his leadership achievements through 2020’s upheaval: American AgCredit (AAC) grew by 19% over 2019 while also supporting more than 500 customers in obtaining PPP loans and many more with loan restructuring so they could weather the economic downturn. He was also cited for instituting pandemic support programs for AAC’s employees, and increasing the organization’s community support with $450,000 in special COVID-19 related donations to 19 food banks in AAC’s territory.
“Leading in an increasingly volatile and complex business world is always a challenge, but especially so when facing disruption like we did last year. We’re fortunate to have a team and a culture focused on accelerating change and evolving to constantly be the best lender we can be for our customers,” says Enix. “I appreciate receiving this Accelerator of the Year award from FCCS, and hope that all of AAC’s employees recognize that I’m accepting it on their behalf. They did the work and they earned our success.”
The Accelerator of the Year Award carries a cash award, which Enix has donated to the Farm Credit System Employee Relief Fund.
Enix led American AgCredit for more than seven years as CEO, prior to which he served as Chief Operating Officer and earlier in other lending roles within the Farm Credit network of agricultural lenders. He holds a bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics and accounting from Oklahoma State University. He is a Kansas native and returned to the Wichita area following his planned December 2020 retirement from AAC.
