In a new interview with CMRubinWorld, the Co-Founder of Moringa School, Audrey Cheng, discusses how school’s curriculum content and teaching practice are applicable to both employers’ needs and future entrepreneurs.

Half of the 10 million African university students who graduate each year are unemployed. The Moringa School is addressing this problem with a learning accelerator approach that combines a blended learning model with field experience to provide young Africans with the digital and professional skills needed for employment.

In a new interview with C.M. Rubin, Founder of CMRubinWorld, Audrey Cheng, Co-Founder and CEO of the school, says youth are attracted to Moringa’s learning framework because the program provides skills that can be used in both the corporate world and for entrepreneurial start-ups. Since 2014, Moringa has graduated over 400 students from their full time 20-week program at campuses in Kenya and Rwanda. “The feeling of seeing a young, single mother gaining employment to be able to support her family is like no other,” says Cheng, who is passionate about scaling the Moringa model across the African continent. “We have our Big Hairy Audacious Goal (BHAG) to train 200,000 future knowledge workers through market-driven education in emerging markets by 2030 at the latest.”
