GAMEWORKS, INC. PROMOTES KELLI SPENCE TO POST OF VICE PRESIDENT, PEOPLE AND CULTURE
SAN FRANCISCO … July 29, 2019 … GameWorks, Inc., a full entertainment and dining experience for millennials, teens and families, announced today the promotion of Kelli Spence to the post of vice president, people and culture.
Spence, whose tenure at GameWorks spans three years, was promoted to this position after spending two years as senior director, people and culture. In this new capacity, she will be focused on initiatives centered around continually enhancing the employee experience, from identifying talent and recruiting through retention and creating career paths for team members as well as ensuring a fun and rewarding culture. This includes oversight of training, benefits, incentives and employee relations.
Spence has nearly 20 years of human resources-related experience. Prior, she was corporate manager-human resources at Lowe Enterprises/Destination Hotels, a hospitality operator. She was also director-human resources for ModernHealth Holdings, Inc., a pharmaceutical organization. Earlier in her career, Spence held a range of other HR-related roles including those at DeVry University, the National Notary Association and Lucky Strike Entertainment, where she spent four years as human resources manager.
“Kelli is a respected asset to our management team, and her knowledge and experience is integral to the GameWorks’ team members and guests. In our first year together, we improved employee retention very significantly, while rolling out an updated set of guest and team focused values for our team. This new position allowed us to promote from within, and we will continue to leverage the strength of our current team as we grow. We look forward to the contributions Kelli will make in her new role,” said Philip N. Kaplan, chairman and chief executive officer at GameWorks.
Spence added: “My goal in this new position is to ensure that GameWorks becomes synonymous with not only a fun entertainment experience for our guests, but also to ensure that our employees genuinely enjoy coming to work every day, and gain a sense of fulfillment from creating great guest experiences as well as giving back to the communities they serve. As a company focused on fun, we strive to have that transcend our workforce, too.”
Spence lives in Edmonds, Wash., and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Arizona State University. She earned certifications as a Professional in Human Resources and from The Society for Human Resource Management.
