Operation Tohidu for Women Retreat Women will take place at Melwood’s Retreat & Recreation Center on May 6, 2019.
The Women’s session is a 5 day experience focusing on aiding women warriors in overcoming and seeking peace in their experiences with military sexual trauma. This is a unique opportunity to receive personalized guidance, resources, and support by trained veterans. “Tohidu” is a Cherokee word meaning peace of mind, body, and spirit. Operation Tohidu® for MST survivors offers a specific program and sanctuary for self-reflection and companionship amongst others whose trust in their battle buddies or chain of command was severed.
Every group of veterans we serve is different and we meet the veteran where they are at and tailor the program to their needs. The challenges faced by women that survive MST include dealing with the after effects of military justice and moral injury. MVS runs MST-specific retreats to connect fellow warriors with shared experiences to one another as they learn effective techniques to mitigate post-traumatic stress, combat isolation and other service-related traumas. The goal is to encourage participants to overcome obstacles to their recovery and capitalize upon the Operation Tohidu mission “Peace with the Past, through Power in the Present”
