    Ceridian on money with pay platform

    Canadian human resources management firm Ceridian is launching new payroll capabilities to Australia, as it beefs up the capabilities of its flagship software platform Dayforce.
     
    According to Ceridian chairman and CEO David Ossip, the launch of Dayforce Payroll gives the company an opportunity to further extend its footprint in Australia.
     
    “This is something we have been working on for some time and we are pushing for rapid growth, having entered Australia in 2015 with our workforce and talent management platform, with Dayforce Payroll we are adding more functionality,” he told The Australian.
     
    Ceridian, which last year completed a successful IPO on the New York and Toronto stock exchanges, has a strong stable of Australian customers, including Michael Hill, Optus, G8 Education and Harris Farm.
     
    The payroll function allows organisations to pay employees accurately, on time and monitor overtime in real time. It also manages compliance requirements by automating and incorporating legislative and regulatory requirements.
     
    While the human resources space has been a hot bed for digital transformation, Mr Ossip said payroll had been stuck in the past. “Payroll technology has been stuck in the 1950s and people dealing with it often didn’t get access to the data they needed, so we combine payroll, attendance, rostering and compliance all into one solution.
     
    “By adopting one consolidated solution we believe companies can better engage and manage their people — and ultimately work smarter.”
     
    In a competitive market, Ceridian’s pitch to organisations is making employee experience the No 1 priority.
     
    “There are lots of platforms out there, offering lots of functions, but they are not optimised for employee experience,” Mr Ossip said.
     
    “They have siloed databases which means organisations don’t get the best outcomes.”
     
    According to a new survey, conducted by Hanover Research on behalf of Ceridian, more than 60 per cent of employees are not completely satisfied with their employer when it comes to their overall pay experience, which includes factors such as timeliness and accuracy of pay.
     
    Mr Ossip said the traditional pay cycles (fortnightly, monthly) were set to be replaced by continuous pay, especially as the gig economy continued to gather pace.
     
    “So for contract workers things like calculating pay as they log in and out of jobs, with payments made in real-time, becomes more important,” he said. “Organisations should be able to do this without investing in expensive on-boarding and off-boarding.”
     
    Gary Carroll, the boss of childcare centre operator G8, said the Dayforce platform had been particularly useful in meeting the needs of its distributed workforce.
     
    “With staff across more than 500 centres across Australia, we knew implementing a single, cloud-based HCM solution to deliver a superior employee experience, while tackling our increasingly complex regulatory requirements, was a must,” Mr Carroll said.
     
    “We believe Dayforce will be instrumental in transforming our workforce for the better in the years to come.”
