    The belief that remote jobs are only suited for lower skilled, entry-level workers remains a common misconception about remote work.  In fact, the average remote worker is 46 years old or older, has at least a bachelor’s degree, and earns a higher median salary than an in-office worker. To demonstrate the variety of remote jobs that are available at the highest career level and to educate people about the professional remote job market, FlexJobs has identified 10 executive-level remote jobs currently posted in its database.  Executive-level refers to jobs with department head responsibilities, such as director, VP and C-level titles.

    “Remote work opportunities are not confined to entry or mid-career level positions as companies continue to integrate remote work into their regular business practices. Seasoned professionals are oftentimes surprised at the variety of remote jobs available matching their career experience at the executive level,” said Sara Sutton, Founder and CEO of FlexJobs. “Earning a great salary in a top level position is no longer only available to employees willing to work a traditional 9-5 in-office job,” Sutton concluded.

    The jobs below were all actively being hired for as of March 25, 2019, and are director-level and above. They all offer some type of remote work arrangement, ranging from some telecommuting to 100% remote. Some of the common executive-level remote job titles include Director, Executive Director, Vice President, Medical Director, and various C-level jobs such as COO, CFO, and CEO.

    Here are 10 executive-level jobs for remote workers:

    Chief Financial Officer
    Median Salary: $130,181
    Description: The CFO will act as liaison withorganization's law firm on preparing contracts and other legal matters. Provide investment analysis on new products as well as evaluation of business models. A minimum of 10 years experience in progressive financial and operational roles is required, along with an MBA in finance or accounting. Partial remote work.

    Chief Marketing Officer
    Median Salary: $169,997
    Description: The chief marketing officer will act as a senior-level ambassador to facilitate sales, growth, and strategies for global marketing operations; manage marketing budgets; and perform the mitigation of risks. 10 or more years of experience is needed, along with a track record of success, and ability to communicate using American Sign Language. Partial remote work.

    Chief Technology Officer
    Median Salary: $154,998
    Description: Serve as a key member of the company’s executive leadership team as a trusted strategist and technology manager. Manage systems, business applications, and tools for consumer use. A degree in Computer Science and ten plus years of experience in software engineering management req. 100% remote work.

    Director of Campaigns
    Salary: $8,000 monthly
    Description: This short-term opportunity also comes with benefits. The candidate will launch hard-hitting national campaigns supporting paid leave in the United States. Must be able to manage a team that achieves goals and milestones. At least seven years' related experience is required. Option for remote work.

    Director, Commercial Finance
    Median Salary: $110,861

    Description: Play a key role in the strategic application of software development across the organization, allocate resource based on strategic priorities, and proactively take care of your team. 10 or more years of experience as a software engineer and five or more years managing in-house development teams. Option for remote work.

    Managing Vice President
    Median Salary: $132,031
    Description: The right candidate will lead analyst teams focused on segmentation, messaging, demand generation, sales enablement, and customer retention for tech companies. A master’s degree is preferred along with five or more years of global team management experience. Partial remote work.

    Regional Vice President Sales
    Median Salary: $138,062
