July Job Cut Report Due Thursday, August 2
Job cuts announced by U.S.-based employers rose 18 percent, from 31,517 in May to 37,202 in June. June’s total was up 19.6 percent from the 31,105 announced in the same month last year. Employers have announced 245,179 cuts through June, 8 percent more than the 227,000 cuts announced through June of last year. The report on July job cuts will be released by global outplacement consultancy Challenger, Gray & Christmas, Inc. on Thursday, August 2, at 7:30 a.m. ET.

July CEO Report Due Wednesday, August 8
The number of chief executive officers leaving their posts reached 90 in June, virtually unchanged from the 91 who did so in May. June’s total rounds out the quarter at 290 CEO exits, up 9 percent from the same quarter last year and down 15 percent from the first quarter 2018 when 341 CEOs left their posts. So far this year, 631 CEOs have left their posts, up 11 percent from the 567 who left their posts through the first six months of last year. The Challenger report on July CEO turnover will be released Wednesday, August 8, at 10:00 a.m. ET.
