Manufacturer’s Lake Bluff Plant Supports Three Shifts of Machine Operators and Technicians

Jessup Manufacturing Company was recognized as a key manufacturing employer in Illinois Congressional District 10 by Congressman Brad Schneider. Congressman Schneider met with Jessup Manufacturing executives and workers while he toured the company’s Lake Bluff, Ill. plant.
“Jessup’s adhesive coated tapes, treads and signs are used all over the world—but they’re made right here in Illinois District 10,” observed Rob Jessup, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Jessup Manufacturing. “One-third of Jessup’s employees are skilled machine operators who work at the Lake Bluff plant in three shifts running the coating lines. Jessup has been making adhesive and photoluminescent products in Lake Bluff for 30 years. We have employed great workers from District 10 for at least that long, and they’ve helped our company grow and thrive.”
Jessup products are used in a wide range of industrial, commercial and consumer applications. Many adhesive coated tapes and treads are used for site safety, while the photoluminescent films and tapes are used for visual warning systems and egress markings. Among the action sports applications, world famous, original Jessup Griptape® is used for traction on skateboard decks.
Jessup Manufacturing was founded in 1956 in McHenry, Ill by Paul and Gertrude Jessup. After acquiring Kencote Laminations (later renamed Midwest Coatings) in 1988, Jessup Manufacturing increased its manufacturing capability and staff. In 2014, Jessup began construction on a 30,000 square foot expansion of the Lake Bluff facility. Two years later in 2016, Jessup Manufacturing added a state-of-the-art grit coating machine called The Maker in Lake Bluff. The Maker is 250 feet long and handles 3,900 linear feet of material from unwind to rewind—longer than 10 football fields.
