Melissa Cox is selected for her outstanding leadership and commitment within her profession
GARDEN CITY, NY (PRWEB) JANUARY 30, 2018
The National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) honors Melissa Cox as a 2017-2018 inductee into its VIP Woman of the Year Circle. She is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in entrepreneurship. NAPW is the nation’s leading networking organization exclusively for professional women, boasting more than 850,000 members, a thriving eChapter and over 200 operating Local Chapters.
“I’m pleased to welcome Melissa into this exceptional group of professional women,” said NAPW President Star Jones. “Her knowledge and experience in her industry are valuable assets to her company and community.”
As a 25-year-old mother of three young children, Melissa Cox struggled to make ends meet while working as a waitress. In an effort to better support her family, she worked hard to further her education. Eventually, Ms. Cox applied for and accepted a billing clerk position at a company in the transportation field. Through hard work, perseverance and the encouragement of co-workers, she slowly and steadily made her way up the corporate ladder.
“After being in the job for several years, one of the Corporate Account Executives encouraged me to move out of the role I was in at the time as a customer service rep and apply for a sales position,” she said.
Today, with nearly 30 years of experience in the transportation industry, Ms. Cox is Director of Enterprise Sales at ArcBest,“a multi-billion-dollar freight and logistics solutions provider that solves complex supply chain challenges.” In her key leadership role, Ms. Cox represents her company and its subsidiaries as she calls on companies throughout Illinois and Wisconsin. “I meet with senior management to manage supply chain negotiations and processes,” she said. “This includes negotiating contracts and acting as a liaison between our companies. I also work with local account managers and mentor them in shared territories and work with leadership to support the sales and operation focus for the region.”
Ms. Cox also manages corporate relationships, and assists customers with integrated supply chain processes and helps them improve efficiencies in their supply chain network. In addition to navigating all of her responsibilities, including nurturing relationships and skillfully managing her many accounts, she stays up-to-date with the industry’s constantly changing technology.
Future goals include taking on a more senior role where she can put her mentoring skills to work. “I would like to move from my role as a sales leader to a more mentoring role in senior management as a Sales Manager,” Ms. Cox added. “It will allow me to pass on the skills that I have learned and nurtured over my career to future sales leaders.”
