San Francisco coalition to honor 65 workplaces that support working families with strong policies on lactation, parental leave, and work-family balance
WHAT: The businesses, nonprofits, and government agencies that belong to San Francisco’s Healthy Mothers Workplace Coalition — joined by Mamava Inc., expert in lactation space design — will recognize San Francisco employers that are committed to supporting health and equity for working parents. Program highlights:
- Panel: Employer-worker pairs discuss how parental leave works, why it's vitally important
- Prizes: Mamava Lactation Suite and Healthy Horizons class
- Remarks: City Administrator Naomi Kelly; Supervisor Katy Tang; state Senator Scott Wiener; and Ann O’Leary, partner with Boies Schiller Flexner (former senior policy adviser to Hillary Clinton, transition team co-leader)
WHY: The coalition, through its awareness campaigns and annual recognition, has led employers in San Francisco to adopt more family-friendly policies covering thousands of workers. Health providers and advocates see it as a national model.
WHEN: 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Oct. 16, 2017
WHERE: Federal Building basement, 90 Seventh Street, San Francisco, 94103
