CHAPEL HILL, NC (PRWEB) OCTOBER 16, 2017
Gather Digital’s mobile apps for events and conferences are both the hub of an attendee’s onsite experience as well as a key component of an integrated event application solution, from registration to onsite management to marketing automation and integration with customer relationship management systems. Managing the content displayed within the app is vital, while pulling attendee activity data from the app provides tremendous marketing intelligence and leverage. It’s all about empowering that two-way flow of information.
In that spirit, Gather Digital is pleased to introduce a tool that offers event planners more control and easier access. The new Gather Digital public API allows its partners to automatically push their own content into the Gather Digital app and to easily retrieve attendee data and activities created within the app.
“Our objective is to be optimally supportive of our partners in this new ecosystem,” said Gather Digital CEO Jon Phillips. “We want to make certain that it’s easy for them to enter data into the system proactively, rather than having to work with us to do it manually, and to ensure that newly generated data is then readily and immediately accessible. Marketing opportunities can be acted upon in real time.”
Many of Gather Digital’s corporate clients hold hundreds of training and other events throughout the year. The public API allows them to streamline the creation of those events and sync all the information with other systems. For example, the Gather Digital public API allows event planners to enter a complete list of registrants and relevant information about each and update changes or cancellations at any time. Within the app, a registrant can check into sessions, bookmark events, download attachments and earn continuing education credits.
Valuable data is generated within the app, and the Gather Digital public API makes that data available on demand—behavioral data, for example, that’s actionable for marketing and more. It can be easily retrieved to feed into CRM systems, membership systems and other data sources.
Gather Digital leveraged a new protocol for its API, a query language called GraphQL, created by Facebook. Most competitors use a RESTful API service that requires users to make multiple calls, receive data attributes defined on the server and piece together data relationships themselves.
With GraphQL, users can explore the entire scope of the API, request only the data they need and include all the hierarchical relationships necessary.
“GraphQL offers a leap in control and customization,” Phillips attests. “Gather Digital is pleased to offer this modern approach to API design and the resulting benefits to our partners.”
