Upsider’s platform offers a unique approach using sales performance data and machine learning to match salespeople to better career opportunities, while learning and adapting from user actions
Upsider, has launched its data science powered talent marketplace in the Greater New York City Area, after a successful 6-month beta period partnering with 50 companies. The platform, which is the first of its kind, uses sales performance data and machine learning to match salespeople to jobs in the technology and software sales industries.
Upsider is free for salespeople, allowing them to create a personal profile to showcase their actual sales metrics and achievements. Salespeople log in and store their performance data -- including information like total business booked, percent of self-generated leads and average deal size. Upsider verifies the information, using a combination of personal screening and technology to identify inconsistencies. Users first experience the ‘Sales Career Analytics’ feature, providing industry benchmarks and letting them compare their performance against their peers, helping them to better understand their market value, so they can maximize their earning potential.
Upsider algorithms then use the data to score and rank users, matching prospects’ proven skills and interests to employer opportunities. The company currently has over 50 Employer Partners in the marketing tech, SaaS and adtech sectors -- including Inc 5000's #1 ‘Fastest Growing Software Company’, BounceX and Glassdoor’s #1 ‘Best Places to Work’ in 2017, Greenhouse Software. The platform tracks user reactions to suggested roles and machine learning adapts and refines suggested career matches tailored to user behaviors.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, there are over 14 million professionals in sales and related occupations in the country, with the average salesperson spending less than two years in a role. Top salespeople are in high demand, but amid this high churn, securing the best roles typically comes down to word-of-mouth and negotiating skills.
Sales professionals seeking new positions and industry insights have traditionally had to rely on job boards on sites like LinkedIn or Glassdoor. These tools are often ambiguous when it comes to understanding potential roles and salary expectations. With its advanced technology, Upsider offers better transparency to enable educated career decisions based on hard data and industry trends. This means salespeople can focus on building relationships with the right companies, opening them to most lucrative job opportunities to match their aspirations.
“By prioritizing data above resumes and job descriptions, we are fundamentally changing the way salespeople and employers connect with each other,” said Upsider cofounder, Drew Koloski. “Our platform is attracting both passive and active job seekers, providing key insights for employers and makes the entire hiring process more efficient and transparent for everyone.”
