Interactive Online Resume - is a great way to introduce yourself to HR and show your knowledge on practice
    Sylvia Giltner

There are a lot of ways that you can try to impress an HR manager. You can wow them with your experiences. You can write a cracking cover letter. You can have somebody that you know put in a good word for you. None of those are exactly new, though.

What is new, is that you can now build an interactive online resume. And these can be just as effective as those other strategies at getting you noticed by an HR department. After all, somebody that can build an interactive resume doesn’t come along every day.

So what are you showcasing when you use an interactive resume?

Demonstrating that you’re on the cutting edge

When you build an online interactive resume and present it to an HR department, you are demonstrating that you are pro-active, willing to embrace new technologies and that when you do embrace such technologies, you can use them effectively.

These are the types of things that an HR department is looking for, as the world’s economies and technological foundation is constantly shifting and they need people who can shift along with it. That means people who aren’t just capable of learning on their own (though that’s certainly a big part of it) but also people who don’t need to be prodded to do such learning. Instead, they go out, learn the skill that’s necessary and then come back to demonstrate they’ve learned it.

These are exactly the kinds of people who will make sure that they will never become obsolete and that they can grow with a company when it takes up a new direction.

Showcase everything you’ve done without overwhelming anybody

Another way in which having an interactive resume can help you is that it allows you to include far more information than a traditional resume does. After all, with a traditional resume you’re restricted to the two expected sheets of paper. Your information shouldn’t extend beyond those for most applications.

That means there is a constant struggle between including everything and explaining what you learned and what you did while you were doing it. That’s not a problem with an interactive resume on http://resumescentre.com/cv-writing, as you can nest your information. That means that if somebody wants more information about what you’ve done, they can click on through to a different part of the resume and explore your experiences in more detail.

In this way you can have your cake and eat it too.

Link to resources outside of your resume

Similarly, a big struggle that is always present in resumes is how you can showcase what you’ve done, without appearing like you’re blowing your own horn. Stray too far in one direction and people will think you’re arrogant. Stray too far in the other direction and the people at HR won’t even sit up and take notices of what you sent in as your humility hid your fabulousness.

With an interactive resume you can easily side-step that very problem, as it allows you to link to content anywhere on the web. That means that you don’t have to tell about how you won a great prize and why it was a great honor, but instead can show exactly why that’s the case by letting some other website do the explaining for you.

    It can attract attention passively

Another useful aspect of the interactive resume is that it can be put out on the web and become a landing page for the vast majority of the people that come to visit your site. In this way, you don’t even necessarily have to send it to a future employer or client. Instead, if you’ve done your personal brand building successfully, they might well end up finding you!

Now what’s not to love about that plan, aye? After all, in that case your resume will continue to look for potential new employers even when you’re gainfully employed and not looking for a new job or tips as to how to get one. What’s more, the people that end up finding you might well be headhunters for big companies and interesting opportunities that you never thought that you’d be ready for.

It can demonstrate your online abilities

The internet is booming. There are more and more possibilities and opportunities out there for you to find employment. If you are going to venture online to work, though, then you’re going to need to demonstrate that you’ve got the skills and the ability to use the online space to best effect.

Now, you can tell a future employer that you can do this kind of thing. But then you’re missing out one of the best pieces of advice out there and that is ‘don’t tell, but show’. And so, show them what you’re capable of by building a hugely impressive interactive online resume that showcases your skill set and makes HR departments everywhere that you’ve got the skills and the developing abilities to really rock cyberspace.

    Last words

In the future, everybody will have interactive resumes. Software developers will make it easier and easier for people to build these kinds of things. That’s just the direction that the market is heading. We’re not there yet, though. We’re still here. Nowadays, they’re still special. They still signify so much more, like your mindset your skillset and that your ideas are not yet set in stone.

Take advantage of that. Don’t just wow the HR department with what you know, who you know and what you’ve done. Impress them by using the very method with which you communicate. That can make the difference between failure and success. What’s more, it can cover for any problems you might have with the original three.

In that way, when you’re just making your way into the work of work, you’ll be in a much better position to get ahead. And that has to count for something.
