BrightStar Care Raising Awareness for Alzheimer’s Treatment

Allyn Nock, of BrightStar Care Tucson/Green Valley/Sierra Vista, a home care and medical staffing agency, lists the top three tips regarding the advantages of Alzheimer’s care.
TUCSON, AZ (PRWEB) OCTOBER 27, 2016
BrightStar Care Tucson/Green Valley/Sierra Vista, in light of Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness and Caregivers Month in November, is raising awareness of the care needed for people suffering from the disease that affects approximately 44 million worldwide. However, according to Alzheimers.net, only one in four people with Alzheimer’s have been diagnosed.
“Depending on the nature and scope of the disease, individuals with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia can have a wide variety of home-care needs,” said Allyn Nock, owner of BrightStar Care Tucson/Green Valley/Sierra Vista, which was recently named the 2016 Provider and Employer of Choice by Home Care Pulse. “Those living with advanced-stage illness may require around-the-clock palliative care and highly specialized support, while others may need only basic assistance or senior care on a part-time basis.”
For families that have loved ones suffering from Alzheimer’s, Nock, a Registered Nurse, lists the following three benefits of Alzheimer’s care:
No. 1: Activities. “Caregivers engage people with Alzheimer’s in intellectually stimulating activities, such as reading books, playing cards, doing puzzles and more,” said Nock. “Caregivers also take the time to listen and learn about the things they used to do and enjoy, and create custom activities that will be familiar for them.”
No. 2: Routines. Routines are an important part of the care plan for anyone living with cognitive impairments. They can be helpful in prompting recall, memory and in managing the unpredictability of the disease.
No. 3: Abilities. “One of the best treatments for individuals with neurological disorders is the ability to enjoy the simple pleasures in life, such as going for a walk in the park or riding in the car to get ice cream,” concluded Nock. “These activities can help optimize abilities and independence, boost mood and enhance quality of life.”
For the past seven years, BrightStar Care Tucson/Green Valley/Sierra Vista has helped the Alzheimer’s Association raise awareness of and funds for Alzheimer’s at the Tucson Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Please join BrightStar Care for this year’s walk on Saturday, November 5, at Reid Park, 900 S. Randolph Way in Tucson.
