One of the best ways for employees to bond with one another and come together as a team is by taking part in group activities. The key here is, however, that often times this sort of bonding is strongest and most effective outside of the office.
Hanging out with a coworker outside of the office, away from the boring 9-5, will allow relationships to flourish, friendships to develop, and ultimately will produce a better working relationship inside the office. This will result in better communication, high levels of collaboration, and finally, a great result.
Having said that, here are a number of great activities for coworkers to take part in outside the office, which I believe will result in a better working relationship:
A Fun Course
When people hear the word ‘course’, they think computer programs or workbooks. Well, how about a fun change of scenery? A great team building and bonding course would be to enroll in a
bartending school, where employees can join together and learn a new craft. In the process, students would actually get a bartending license, thus giving them a way to earn a new income at night, in addition to their existing jobs. A win-win all around.
Outdoor Activity
No matter what you enjoy, whether it is tossing around a Frisbee or firing up the barbeque, an outdoor activity is a
fun bonding idea for any coworker. Additionally, being in the outdoors, away from the office surrounded by computers, boardrooms, and stacks of paper, will be refreshing. This will allow coworkers to see each other in a fun environment. Additionally, there is the added notion of working together – whether it is barbequing together or having a Frisbee catch, these teamwork activities will certainly pay off in the office.
Midnight Run
Going for a run with coworkers can be a great activity – it gets the adrenaline pumping, offers a deft combination of collaboration (running together) and light competition (who will come in first place?), and is healthy for the body.
These three activities will certainly provide a nice boost for employee bonding.
