The diet of many americans remains unhealthy even to this day. That could be due to the cost of the healthier items, the distance it would take to travel to get to healthier foods, or because of a lack of education on what healthy food means. All of these factors contributes to an ever-growing rate of americans with chronic disease. 
In 2011 the CDC launched a program to initiate having healthier foods at work. This also included strategies for teaching emplyees about a nutritional diet. Studies on good nutrition at work show how these programs contribute to a better health, productivity gains, improved worker morale, prevention of accidents and premature death, as well as reduced healthcare costs.
This program has includded improving the amount of healthy foods at schools as well as the workplace. To help out the families wh continue to live under the poverty threshold, SNAP (The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) is working hard to get more healthier foods accesible with SNAP benefits. Also by making access to farmer's markets easier more people will want to enjoy the locally grown, good quality produce. As well as making healthier foods available to the workplace and schools, bringing healthier foods to seniors can help control any chronic diseases.  Another key peice of this strategy is supporting local community programs, and building the local economies.
