Employers announced plans to cut payrolls by 38,536 jobs in June, a 28 percent increase from May’s total of 30,157. June job cuts were down 14 percent from the 44,842 planned job cuts reported by employers in June 2015. Through the first half of the year, employers announced 313,754 planned job cuts, which is up 9 percent from the 287,672 job cuts announced in the first six months of 2015. The report on July job cuts will be released by global outplacement consultancy Challenger, Gray & Christmas, Inc. on Thursday, August 4 at 7:30 a.m. ET.

July CEO Report Due Wednesday, August 10
The pace of chief executive officer departures slowed to the lowest level since February, as 97 CEOs left their posts in June. That was down 3 percent from 100 in May and 5 percent from the 102 who left their posts in June of last year. Through midyear, 624 CEOs have left their posts, 6 percent more than the 588 CEOs who exited during the first half of 2015.
