    Which Industries Have the Most FMLA Leave? See New ComPsych Report

    CHICAGO – June 29, 2016 – While the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) continues to increase in complexity, some sectors – call centers, hotels, government entities, manufacturers and health care organizations – continue to surpass others in terms of absenteeism rates, according to a new report by ComPsych® Corporation. ComPsych is the world’s largest provider of employee assistance programs and is the pioneer and worldwide leader of fully integrated EAP, behavioral health, wellness, work-life, HR, FMLA and absence management services under its GuidanceResources® brand.

    Key findings of the report:
    •Health care organizations have the largest percentage of employees on FMLA leave in a year (39 percent of employee population).

    •Hotel/hospitality employees have the highest percentage of intermittent FMLA leave (56 percent of FMLA cases).

    •Manufacturers have the longest duration of continuous FMLA leave (average of 31.4 days).

    •Hotel/hospitality employees have the lengthiest FMLA absences overall, averaging 30.3 days per employee, which is 2.3 times more than professional services employees, who average 13.1 days off.
