Austin, TX (May 3, 2016) -- The New Media Consortium (NMC) announced today that Dr. Larry Johnson has stepped down as Chief Executive Officer, effective at the close of business on Monday, May 2, 2016, by mutual agreement with the organization's Board of Directors. In addition, Dr. Johnson will no longer serve on the organization's Board of Directors upon his departure as Chief Executive Officer.
"I am deeply grateful to have had the opportunity to lead and build this organization for the past 15 years, and I am excited about its future. I would like to thank the NMC Staff for their hard work during my tenure. I am exceptionally proud of what we have accomplished," said Johnson.
The NMC also announced that its Board of Directors has named Peggy Snyder as Interim Executive Director to provide ongoing leadership and to support organization operations and strategic initiatives. Snyder currently serves on the NMC Board of Directors and was the Director of Education Strategic initiatives at Autodesk and the former Director of NA Education at Adobe Systems. Don Henderson will continue to serve as Chair of the Board of Directors with the Executive Committee: Michael Berman, Vice Chair and Liz Neely, Secretary/Treasurer, in addition to the existing board members.
The NMC's Board of Directors will commence a comprehensive search and evaluation process to select a permanent replacement for the role of Executive Director, in place of CEO role.
"Over the past 15 years, Larry has been integral to building the NMC into a world-renowned organization, recognized for the NMC Horizon Project, which produces the NMC Horizon Report series, charting the uptake of emerging technologies in various learning sectors worldwide," said Don Henderson, Chair of the NMC Board of Directors. "We are fortunate to have such a knowledgeable and capable senior staff already in place that can execute on our strategic initiatives while we identify the right individual to lead the NMC into the future."
