    There are so many things that can increase the productivity of your business, like having a solid business plan or even creating an optimal work environment. On the other hand, all of these things are there to help your staff perform better, but if they are not up to the task, no force in the universe will help them. What this means, is that in order for all these productivity-boost tricks to work, you first must have an adequate team on your side, which yet again means that you must be careful about who you hire. In order to help you here, there are few tips on what to look for when hiring.

    Study their resume

    Ok, the absolutely first thing you need to do is check the CV of your applicants in order to learn something about their education and more importantly their previous work experience. What you need to look for here are two things. First one is how much work experience they have and for how long they tend to stick around in the same company. If they change firms too often it can yet again mean one of two things. Either they are let go for their lack of competence (or even worse lack of effort) or they are simply too restless to stay in one company for long. Needless to say, neither one of these things suits you so what you should look for is someone with a bit more stable work-past.

    An interview

    Next thing that awaits you is the interview with suitable candidates and here you must be extremely careful if you are to make the right choice. This can be quite difficult since candidates always try to portray themselves in the best light possible, even if this means being quite dishonest. With this in mind, there are several warning signs you need to look out for during an interview. One of them is that candidate won’t admit not to know something, even though openness towards self-improvement is a huge plus. Also, it is not surprising if candidate is to brag too much. Last but not the least important is a fact that a surprisingly large number of them, can’t even tell what the most crucial function of their position in your company will be.

    Psychic evaluation


    Another thing you need to do is find someone to do a psychological assessment of your potential employees. This is usually done by someone in the HR in most companies, unfortunately most startups will not have the luxury of keeping an in-house HR. In that case, the safest way would be to outsource this service to someone who provides that particular service. Things like this are quite delicate and cannot be done properly by a layman. Furthermore, seeing how this will be one of the most important determiners of how your staff members operate together, this is a step that you in no way want to skip.

    Think about the long run

    Truth be told, it is always good if your employees have previous work experience, but even if they don’t it is not the end of the world. You have to start somewhere and what you should look for in your employees is their potential for future growth. With this in mind, you should never judge a book by its covers, or your employees by the way in which they present themselves. Sure, confidence radiates around some people, but people looking to impress you often use big adjectives that they cannot back up. Because of this, try to recognize potential in your future staff and groom them for the position that you want them to assume.

    Choosing the right employee for your company is like finding the right armchair to go into your living room. Sure, it may seem ideal in the store, but once you try and install it in your home, things might not work out for the best. However, seeing how your business is the one that will thrive or degrade based on your choice, you need to keep your both eyes open and know exactly what you are looking for.
