Scenario Learning Launches Training to Help Prevent Active-Shooter Events in Workplaces,Evidence-based courses written by industry experts guide businesses with key techniques for keeping employees safe

CINCINNATI (PRWEB) APRIL 05, 2016
As the number of threats and violent attacks in workplaces increases, the safety and security of staff has become a top priority for employers – particularly in active-shooter situations. Business owners, administrators and supervisors must ensure that all personnel are properly trained to ideally prevent active shooter incidents, or to handle such an event with the least loss of life possible, should one arise.
Active-shooter tragedies over the past decade have prompted law enforcement agencies and businesses to think differently about how they handle a dangerous intruder. To help with these important efforts, Scenario Learning announces two new SafePersonnel Online Training System courses: Active Shooter for Supervisors and Active Shooter for Staff.
Written by Michael Dorn and Phuong Nguyen, two of the nation’s leading safety experts, the SafePersonnel Training supervisor and staff courses outline proven methods to decrease the likelihood of dangerous events, while improving the odds of survival should an active-shooter event occur.
In a recent report, NPR indicates that up until a decade ago, security in the workplace focused primarily on preventing theft. The report goes on to cite that approximately 75 to 80 percent of businesses are now actively seeking to implement armed intruder or active-shooter policies or training for staff. The SafePersonnel Training System’s new courses detail evidence-based procedures for dealing with an active shooter in the building regardless of the type of weapon being used. As more organizations implement effective prevention strategies, violent attacks in the workplace should decrease.
“Every workplace should be a safe and productive environment for all employees,” said Scenario Learning CEO Brian Taylor. “Providing expert-authored training for supervisors and staff is an effective means of helping to prevent dangerous situations at work from happening, and ensures everyone knows what to do if faced with an active shooter or violent intruder.”
The new Active Shooter for Supervisors and Active Shooter for Staff courses are available as part of an annual subscription to the SafePersonnel Online Training System. The web-based system includes a wide variety of customized training for local governments, businesses and non-profits. All SafePersonnel Training courses are 100 percent workplace-focused and written by the nation’s leading safety experts. Course topics include Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Prevention, Discrimination Awareness in the Workplace, Emergency & Disaster Preparedness, General Safety Orientation, Sexual Harassment: Policy & Prevention, Workplace Bullying and more.
