American Corporate Partners (ACP), the nation’s veteran mentoring program for transitioning service members is announcing today the launch of a Women’s Veteran Mentoring Program. ACP’s program will offer personalized, one-on-one yearlong mentorships for transitioning, post-9/11 servicewomen to receive career guidance from top businesswomen nationwide.

More than one million service members are expected to transition over the next several years, including more than 100,000 women. ACP’s new initiative is designed to assist female veterans build a second career post-military service. Veterans will be mentored by private sector leaders on topics ranging from building civilian-friendly résumés, networking, leadership skills and work-life balance.

Lt. Gen. Jeffrey W. Talley, Chief of the Army Reserve, who is hosting the launch of this initiative at the Pentagon today, stated, "ACP is one of several resources available to our female service members. I applaud our business community for its engagement with our returning veterans.”

Retired Gen. Ann Dunwoody, the U.S. Army’s first female four-star general and ACP Advisory Council member, voiced enthusiasm for the program. “All service members transitioning out of the armed services face a challenge, but women in particular face a unique set of challenges and I salute ACP and our business leaders’ effort to build this program.”

In addition to the U.S. Army Reserve, ACP is also working with the U.S. Army’s Soldier for Life program, as well as national nonprofits Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) and The Mission Continues. ACP is being supported by a number of its corporate partners in this initiative, and is pleased to be working with additional groups including 100 Women in Hedge Funds, Ellevate Network, GLG, and LeanIn.Org.
