We all have a personal brand, but not all of us know how to manage it. That is just one of the many lessons learned from Sallie Krawcheck during a personal branding night hosted by Ellevate and MBA@UNC, UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School’s online MBA program, in New York City. According to Krawcheck, “If we are not actively making our own personal brand, then someone is doing it for us.” She would know. Krawcheck was fired from Citi Global Wealth Management and Merrill Lynch Wealth Management and both times the news made the front page of the Wall Street Journal.
The news of Krawcheck’s firings broadcasted far and wide could have defined her personal brand, but she did not let these moments define her. Instead, she developed her own personal brand.
To learn how Krawcheck was able to overcome her public failures to become one of the top most respected women in finance, read MBA@UNC’s full recap.
