GARDEN CITY, NY (PRWEB) NOVEMBER 13, 2015

NAPW members recognized Breast Cancer, Disability and Bullying Awareness Month during October at Local Chapter events around the country. Hundreds more members came together at the latest NAPW eChapter meeting, where they listened to experts speak about these important issues, and chatted and networked online with other NAPW members. Whether it was in person or online, NAPW women were motivated by members’ passionate stories of survival, heroism and advocacy to work together to make a difference in their communities.

“NAPW launched its #NAPWGoesPink campaign and Local Chapters held inspiring events to learn, lead and raise awareness about breast cancer, disability and bullying,” said NAPW President Star Jones. “For those members who couldn’t attend a Local Chapter meeting, our thriving eChapter met twice last month, featuring an expert from the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, an NAPW Foundation partner, and members who shared their very real experiences dealing with breast cancer and bullying.”

At Chapter events in NAPW’s Eastern Region, professional women in Ocala, FL and Pembroke Pines, FL, and Scranton, PA, gathered at networking events, welcoming guest speakers whose expertise helped to inform and educate. Choosing the right healthcare, the importance of breast cancer awareness among men as well as women and supporting young adults with disabilities were among the topics covered. NAPW members in Southwest Central Virginia celebrated the relaunch of that Local Chapter.

Members in NAPW’s Western region, including Palo Alto and Wallnut Creek, CA welcomed speakers who discussed bullying in the workplace and sexual harassment. In Phoenix, AZ, member and breast cancer survivor Myra Irizarry-Reddy inspired Local Chapter members with the tale of her poignant journey. Members of the Salt Lake City, UT, Chapter donned matching t-shirts and proudly walked as a team at the local American Cancer Society’s Making Strides for Breast Cancer 5k Walk, raising more than $800 for the cause. NAPW members in North Orange County, CA, and Tucson, AZ, also gathered to network at Local Chapter meetings.
