Boulder, CO (PRWEB) November 18, 2015
FlexJobs has analyzed thousands of freelance job listings during the period between August 1, 2015 through October 31, 2015 to determine the top 30 companies hiring for freelance jobs. The companies on this list comprise a range of industries, such as education, communications, technology, healthcare, marketing and research.
A huge variety of companies, organizations, and government agencies across a myriad of career fields hire freelancers for jobs that can vary from small, temporary projects to long-term, full-time projects. Freelance job titles vary as well, such as: analyst, writer, nurse, producer, publicist, project manager, analyst, designer, auditor, translator and instructor.
The top ten companies (excluding staffing/recruiting agencies) hiring freelancers in August, September and October 2015 were:
BBC Worldwide
Haynes & Company
Carolinas HealthCare System
LiveOps
Razorfish
Edmentum
CompuCom Systems Inc.
Creative Circle
Advanced Clinical
FocusKPI Inc.
“The world of work is changing, as professionals challenge the traditional nine to five office paradigm and as businesses more and more seek out the growing talent pool of freelance workers,” said Sara Sutton Fell, Founder and CEO of FlexJobs, the leading online service for hand-screened telecommuting and flexible jobs. “As this list demonstrates, companies of all sizes and familiarity are leveraging the freelance job market and both they and the freelancers are benefiting from this work arrangement.”
There are 53 million freelancers in the U.S., representing 34 percent of America’s workforce. Freelance refers to work done by a person who, while performs work for a company, is ultimately self-employed. Other terms synonymous with freelance include contract work, 1099, contract consultant and independent contractor.
The five biggest sources of work for freelancers are word-of-mouth, agencies, former employers, online talent marketplaces and social media. Strong freelancers are business-minded, adaptable, creative, good negotiators, persistent and self-disciplined.
