    New Job Board Survey: Candidates Are Abandoning Applications


    HUNT VALLEY, MD (October 16, 2015)—In a worldwide survey of job board operators, just 12% said they are able to track completed online job applications after redirecting candidates to employers applicant tracking systems (ATSs). Additionally, an astonishing 91% of respondents said they do not receive crucial performance information regarding the job candidates they deliver to ATSs. These are just a few of the key findings of a new worldwide survey of job board operators—findings that highlight a lack of effective integration between job boards and ATSs.

    Conducted online during the third quarter of 2015, the survey was commissioned by reThinkData in partnership with the International Association of Employment Web Sites (IAEWS), Job Board Doctor, JobG8, and The Connection Alliance. A total of 113 job board operators took part in the survey, which gathered data about their ability to work effectively with ATSs in serving the needs of employers and job seekers.     John Bell, reThinkData’s president and CEO, will be presenting highlights of the survey’s findings to members of the Connection Alliance at the IAEWS Fall Congress Extravaganza in Las Vegas on October 16. The Connection Alliance is a group of job board operators, recruitment website companies and ATS developers who have joined together to resolve the disconnect between job boards and ATSs.

    Bell believes this disconnect is, in large part, responsible for the soaring rate at which job candidates abandon online applications before completing them. Researchers have estimated the candidate abandonment rate to be as high as 90%.

    “The results of the survey are very clear,” said Bell. “Job board operators around the world feel they need to be much better integrated with ATSs. The widespread lack of integration between the two groups undermines everyone’s ability to serve employers and job seekers with the quality and efficiency they deserve. It also keeps most job board operators from providing accurate reports to their client organizations or even measuring their own performance and the value they deliver.”
