Green, having already grown a successful offline business employing more than 100 staff, started GetSerio.com to solve what he saw as challenges trying to use other freelance websites. The site shifts the focus from so-called ‘buyers,’ to what GetSerio.com calls ‘Hirers’ – managers at established companies who are looking to build lasting working relationships with reliable freelancers. Putting reliability at the core of the freelancer-hirer relationship means connecting vetted corporate hirers with skilled freelance professionals. Freelancers can register in under a minute using LinkedIn and keep all they earn. Hirers pay a nominal annual fee to access comprehensive project management and collaboration software and to ensure they are up to the standards of today's most talented freelancers. All fees are waived for a limited time as part of the launch.
