Here’s Your Chance to Tell the World What a Terrific Trucking Company Does!
TCA launches opening of 2015 Best Fleets to Drive For survey and contest
Alexandria, Virginia -- Do you work for a trucking company that has a remarkable company culture? Are you pleased with how you are treated when it comes to things like compensation, safety, benefits, equipment, training, etc.? If so, please consider nominating your company for the Truckload Carriers Association’s (TCA) Best Fleets to Drive For® survey and contest, an annual evaluation of the best employers in the trucking industry. Simply visit www.BestFleetsToDriveFor.com between September 2 and October 31, 2014, to make your nomination.
You may have read about Best Fleets to Drive For over the years, as 2015 marks the 7th annual competition. The program publicly recognizes and celebrates the fleets that are working to provide exceptional workplace environments.
According to Deborah Sparks, TCA’s vice president of development, after a company is nominated and agrees to participate, the survey will dig deeper into its policies and practices, bringing to light the things it does that are innovative and/or successful.
“Best Fleets is good for everybody – the carriers, the staff, the drivers – and it’s even good for the image of trucking – to show off the best of what our industry can offer,” she said.
Best Fleets is open to all for-hire trucking companies operating in the U.S. or Canada with 10 or more trucks, regardless of TCA membership status. Nominated companies will answer questions about their current human resources best practices, both electronically and through phone interviews with senior management and a random sampling of their drivers. The top 20 finishers will be identified as Best Fleets to Drive For and will be announced in January 2015.
Next, the finalists will be evenly split into both “small” and “large” categories, depending on the sizes of the companies who make it to this stage. From here, two overall winners will be selected. This marks a significant departure from previous years, when finalists were chosen from a company driver category and an owner operator category.
Why the change? According to Mark Murrell, president of CarriersEdge of Markham, Ontario, the company that conducts the survey for TCA, “With six previous surveys under our belt, we now have enough data to accurately compare the various types of business structure — whether entirely company driver, entirely owner operators, or a combination — and effectively score them against each other. Splitting the finalists by size also makes sense because it ensures fairness for all involved.”
TCA and CarriersEdge will recognize the overall winners at TCA’s Annual Convention, March 8-11, 2015, at the Gaylord Palms in Kissimmee, Florida.
