Today, KPMG International released the results of the most recent KPMG International HR Pulse Survey. The report centers around the ‘new war for talent’ and reflects the growing need for organizations to focus on building effective and well coordinated teams as opposed to focusing human resources on simply attracting star performers.
The survey results highlight a big shift in HR methodology, brought about by factors including a skill shortage, increased globalization and improved economic conditions:
59% of respondents agree there is a ‘new’ war for talent, but that it’s much different than in the past.
66% say it’s more important to address talent needs across the organization rather than focusing on high performers.
Over half say focusing on high potential talent at the expense of the team puts the business at risk.
The content of this report which surveyed KPMG People & Change consultants also closely echoes the comments of Laura Croucher, Partner, Advisory Services, KPMG in Canada and People & Change National Service Line Leader, who expressed the importance of this shift in HR methodology in her recent article in the National Post.
Ms. Croucher is available for comment and for interviews on this important subject for the Canadian workplace.
Should you wish to speak with her, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
