Mobile learning will be huge in 2014. When 500 Learning & Development staff were surveyed, 70% of the staff were either using m-Learning or planning to introduce it by 2014. It looks like 2014 is the year to take advantage of mobile learning’s popularity! One way to create an engaging m-Learning course is to develop a mobile game.
Consider these 4 factors when you’re creating a mobile game:
1. Security
Make sure you choose a secure mobile delivery platform, like Lectora® Mobile m-Learning platform. This mobile learning solution exceeds all known security requirements in the industry, including over-the air, in-the cloud, single sign-on security and double encryption.
2. Focus
Don’t try to squeeze too many learning objectives into one game. You’ll already need to take time to make sure your game and course are mobile-friendly. If you have too many topics to include in your game as well, you’ll run out of time—and your game could be overwhelming or confusing for your learners.
To avoid focus-related issues, ask yourself, “What task or behavior do I want my learner to accomplish as a result of this game?” Then, plan your game design around that.
3. Feedback
Provide feedback to your learners throughout the game. For example, create checkpoints or a scoring system. Checkpoints are good for both you and your leaners: you can find out how your learners are doing and your learners can get encouragement throughout the course.
4. Social
You can motivate your learners by using leaderboards to create friendly competition and facilitate communication. Making your game social is a great way to motivate learners.
