Social media in recruitment has altered the way people search for and communicate about work. It is opening up a plethora of connections where people are willing and able to share information, views, encouragement, and even warnings about prospective job opportunities.
However, the acceptance and use of social recruitment strategies differ considerably across the world. Countries such as Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and India stand out as embracing social media for job-seeking. At the other extreme, those in Europe (with the exception of the Netherlands and Poland) prefer the more traditional methods of seeking employment and sourcing talent. As this graphic shows, more than half of workers (55%) share information about job opportunities via social media. And, a similar proportion (44%) has been contacted via social media about a potential job.
