    Will Changing Your Mindset Help You Achieve Career Success?


    Maybe I attract people who are willing to play for high stakes!

    Or the circumstances surrounding their leadership career means that they have already developed nerves of steel and possess a tremendous level of agility.

    Perhaps, they have been able to tap into their X Competency – that unacknowledged talent or set of talents that individuals never know that they possess, but manifest in times of crisis.

    Possibly, they hook into dreams from their childhood where they actually saw themselves as Superman or Wonder Woman.

    Whatever the genesis or cause, I seem to have a large number of family members, former bosses and coworkers, associates, friends and clients who have achieved career success by changing their mindset.

    Regardless of their career success, on the flip side: their careers are also a scary rollercoaster ride where resilience and trust in their capabilities and destiny have become the hallmarks of their belief system.

    Who Are They?

    Jerry – a Chief Marketing Officer for a regional utility: was downsized; started a successful consulting company; was then recruited as COO then CEO of a mid-size company; who then left to join a start-up; led a buy-out that outperformed expected investor returns; and is now head of a new business venture that has garnered second round financing and has multimillion dollar contracts with Fortune 100 corporations.

    Mary – overcame medical issues and physical limitations: left a lucrative corporate career; started a consulting company; founded a global association for women; is president of a nationally-renowned professional association; gives to charities; volunteers at a food shelter and recently authored two books.

    Harry – a Chief Strategy Officer: left a name brand retail organization to start a successful consulting practice; heads a social ventures organization; is a well-known blogger and thought leader in the area of business strategy and business growth; and serves in an executive-in-residence capacity in a top-ranked university.

    Susan – a Human Resources Director in a global non-profit organization: who, while based in Italy, lobbied for and accepted a role in Africa that would allow her to offer coaching to the organization’s leadership and employees in her specialized area of expertise.

    I hope you are one of the courageous, resilient individuals who have triumphed by changing your mindset to achieve career success.
