    Why it is Important to Nurture High Performing Teams?


    "T.E.A.M = Together everyone achieves more." There is no argument to the fact that teams are the foundation of any business. To survive in today’s dynamic business world, a company needs to have a strong team dynamics and working relationship between all the members of a team. Both, the performance and productivity of an individual is based on how good a team bonding he share.

    Ideally, a team will be strong when it comprises of people from divergent backgrounds and experiences. To construct an ideal team, organizations are waking up to team building activities. They are investing their time and resources to build a group that performs well and stays motivated.

    Almost a decade ago, Indian companies where not really conscious about the impact of team building activities and programs. However, today, after understanding the importance of a high performing group, companies are also investing in arranging leadership development programs - as eventually a good leader can guide a group of people to work dedicatedly towards a goal. So, team building activities are no longer carried by just a few niche companies, it is an integral part of each and every organization that aims to succeed.

    Moreover, the modern day workplace is quite diverse. It comprises of a heterogeneous set of people coming together from diverse backgrounds. If not so for a good team bonding, the attrition rates would continue to soar as good camaraderie is one factor that helps people to stick together.

    How can you gauge that your team needs a team building session? Here are some signs and symptoms that would indicate it’s about time you organize a team building workshop for your employees.

    •       Overall dip in productivity
    •       A rise in conflicts among the employees
    •       Lack of proper communication within the team that is leading to confusion and clashes
    •       Lack of participation in company’s activities
    •       Inability to perform a task delegated by a supervisor
    •       Lack of innovation, creativity and imagination in solving complicated situations.
    •       A rise in complaints regarding discrimination
    •       Showing negative response to the immediate head or manager
    •       Complaints about insignificant happenings in the office.

    For a company, it is important to communicate well with its employees. If arranging an outdoor team building games in a distant locale seems difficult, arrange a small get together. Give your employees a chance to vent their inner feelings. Fostering teamwork is a company’s job and they can do so by encouraging the group to work towards achieving a common goal.
